Prestige Challenges: every objective players have reported, and how they finished them
IllFonic has not published the objectives, so players have been posting the ones they were dealt and swapping how they finished them. This is that record: 14 objectives with a number attached, each with who says what. How the timer, the cost and the reset work is on the prestige page.
What the reports agree on
The bear hug does not count. Cramped space turns a finisher into a hug. Open ground, from behind.
Bloodthirst 3 is behind almost every execution and one-hit objective.
Scares are the risky ones. Two players say they only count on real players.
Some objectives are civilian-side. Killing priority targets as Michael does nothing for them.
Finishers and one-shots, played through

One creator working through the profile challenges as Michael. The finisher and one-hit entries below cite it by timestamp.
How big each ask is
Every objective where a player gave the number, smallest first. Fifteen is the most common ask. Profile challenges run against a 24-hour timer, and several of the larger asks are the ones players complain about.
Bars link to the entry. The colour marks whose side of the match the objective is on; where the report does not show it, the bar is grey.
Executions and finishers
The largest family, and the one with a shared trap: the game picks a bear-hug animation when there is not enough room, and that animation does not count.
The three conditions come from the axe-finisher reports below; the bear-hug branch is the one every entry in this group warns about. The stalk and execution guide covers the meter itself, and the Michael tips page has what tier 3 unlocks.
Axe finisher on special targets
15 neededMichael sideReported for: Axe, prestige 3 in one report
The finisher animation has to actually play. That takes Bloodthirst tier 3, a target on low health and open ground behind them; in a cramped spot the game gives you a bear hug, which does not count.
One player completed a 15-special-target version by getting each target to 25% health or less, reaching Bloodthirst tier 3 and Stalk level 3, then executing.
A recorded method for finishers: max out Bloodthirst to tier 3, bring a resident down to one hit, grab them and let them escape, then attack from directly behind in open space. In a cramped room you get a bear-hug execution instead, which does not count.
The animation has to actually play. When there is not enough space, both the Bloodthirsty execution and the finisher default to the hug, which turns it into a basic weapon execution and does not count toward the challenge.
A player who stalked targets to tier 3, injured them until they limped and then pressed execute got no progress. They later reported the challenge complete after the replies.
One reply's recipe: hit the resident until only a little health is left, so they put a hand on their hip. Walk away so they start walking off, then swing and miss to terrify them, or bump or push them. Wait until they are in open space, go behind them and press E.
The throw has to be the kill on its own, with no other damage to that victim first, and Bloodthirst has to be at level 3. Wounding a target before throwing is reported not to count.
15 neededMichael sideReported for: Knife, prestige 1 in one report
Fifteen priority targets who never knew you were there, in at least one version all of them executions. Three players describe it the same way, so it looks like a fixed weapon challenge, and it takes hours.
Kill 15 priority targets without them knowing you are there.
One player remembers their knife challenge, for prestige 1, as grabbing 15 special targets and executing them without alerting them. It took two and a half hours, and they call it very hard in public matches and unpredictable in private ones and story missions.
Bloodthirsty grab executions on unaware, terrified victims
15 neededMichael sideReported for: Profile
Stand even slightly too close to scenery and the game plays the bear hug, which pays points but does not count.
The objective is a bloodthirsty grab weapon execution on an unaware, terrified victim, 15 times. Standing even slightly too close to scenery turns it into the bear-hug animation, which pays the points for a weapon execution but does not count toward the challenge.
You execute a victim from inside their hiding spot, so the job is to scare a target into a closet and get in with them. Players disagree on how much stalk you need first.
The objective is 15 hiding-spot executions, dealt as a Michael prestige challenge. The player who asked had one done and wanted to know whether residents can be made to hide in closets and cars in a private match.
The method: stalk a victim to tier 3, scare them until they run into a closet, then get into the closet with them and you are given the execute option. It has to be done from inside the closet.
Not settled. How much stalk and Bloodthirst you need is not settled: tier 3, tier 1, or none, from three players in one thread.
One-hit kills
The objective that draws the most how-do-I-do-this threads, because the text says one hit and the game counts something else.
One-hit kills with the pickaxe or wood axe
20 neededMichael sideReported for: Axe, pickaxe
A single swing does not do it. A quick two-hit combo counts as the one hit once Bloodthirst is at 3, and one player has written up a method for it that others call perfect and broken.
One player's axe challenge was to one-shot 20 residents. They report that no single swing does it, even at Bloodthirst 3 on a resident stalked to tier 3.
For the axe version, the first of the two hits has to be a headshot, from behind on an unsuspecting resident, with no miss and no pause between the hits.
A written-up method: equip Shadow Strike, Detection Pulse and Reality Tear, load a private match on Haddonfield Town Center, and kill the three special targets first by stalking each to tier 3, which puts you at Bloodthirst 3 with five residents left.
In that method the residents must be terrified first, showing a red exclamation point and leaving a trail, which the writer says gives a damage boost. Let them run outside, or surprise them from the front in open space, because hitting anything else in the environment, or a body in an odd position, means no one-hit kill.
The same writer attacks face to face, using Shadow Strike to stagger the resident so the combo lands cleanly, says the kill is a two-piece quick-attack combo and that a One Hit Kill notice appears on the left of the screen, and puts the pace at 5 matches for 25 kills or 4 for 20.
One-shot kills with the pickaxe: police officers go down in one hit far more reliably than residents. Scare residents into calling the police to bring officers to you.
A player using Reality Tear to attack a resident instantly saw the One Hit Kill notice after two ordinary hits and asked whether that counts. The thread has no answer.
Not settled. From behind or face to face: the headshot version says behind, the written-up method says in front and terrified. Both use Bloodthirst 3 and a tier-3 stalk.
Scares
Where it matters most who is on the other end. Several players say a scare only counts when it lands on another real player.
Jump-scare by breaking doors and windows
30 neededMichael sideReported for: Profile, and a pickaxe prestige 2 challenge
Whether residents controlled by the game can ever count is the open question. Two players say scares only work on real players, and one player's private match against NPCs did not register.
One challenge asks you to jump-scare 30 residents by breaking doors or windows with the pickaxe.
That challenge often fails to register because the resident does not react to the break. The player who drew it farmed it in a private match with a friend.
A player who broke a door as an NPC stood at it, in a private match, got no progress. Their other prestige challenges against NPCs had registered, including a Michael one and two wood axe ones.
For the pickaxe prestige 2 challenge, one player says it only works on real players and that the word someone in a challenge means other real players. A commenter offers to take turns as Michael in a private match to scare each other behind doors.
One player thinks they did it for an axe prestige just by breaking doors whenever an NPC was near, so its fear meter filled at once. Another advises smashing down civilians' doors instead of Shape Jumping in.
Not settled. Two players say only real players count, one thinks NPCs worked for them, and none of it is confirmed by IllFonic.
Objectives for the civilian side
Prestiging a civilian, or your profile, can hand you an objective you play as a resident of the town rather than as Michael. Killing priority targets does not help with these.
A guess, relaying a friend's experience with a similar challenge: the quick command to send residents out was not giving progress, and telling them to leave while talking to them may be needed.
Everyone rushes the priority targets, so a match gives you about two.
One player's challenge was to talk to 15 priority targets. They found it frustrating because everyone rushes the targets, so they were usually getting two a match.
One report, and the player disliked it enough to ask whether letting the timer run out would deal a different one.
Bob's prestige 5 challenge asked one player for 50 very convincing phone calls. They asked whether letting the timer run out would give a new challenge or the same one, and were told it is random, so the same one is possible but unlikely.
One player had two blinds after a few matches and judged it not worth the 24 hours.
Another profile challenge is to blind Michael 40 times. The player who drew it had two blinds after a few matches and judged it not worth the 24 hours.
Getting residents out is also the point of a normal match; how the four exits work is on the escapes page, and each civilian’s kit is on the characters pages.
Volume and short asks
Big numbers, or a single unusual condition, with little agreed method.
Destroy noise makers with the pickaxe
20 neededMichael sideReported for: Profile, within a day
The challenge does not say what counts as a noise maker, and in one recording phones and the bar's jukebox did not.
One profile challenge asks you to destroy a noise maker with the pickaxe 20 times within one day.
Check your loadout before you queue. One player started a pickaxe challenge with a different weapon equipped and could not make any progress that match.
Some objectives are for the other side. A player who killed their priority targets over four or five games for an objective that turned out to be survivor-side was told so, and that talking to a target, or probably just finding one, is what counts.
If nothing counts after a full match, that is a known complaint and not always your setup: what players report about challenges that never move, and what IllFonic has said, are under Prestige Challenges not working. For your own record of the story-mode challenges while tracking is unreliable, there is the challenge tracker.
Questions
What are the Prestige Challenges in Halloween: The Game?
An objective you finish to complete a prestige. IllFonic has not published a list, so players are compiling one: 14 objectives with a number attached so far, from 15 hiding-spot executions to 50 phone calls, plus a few short ones like winning five games as Michael. Profile ones run against a 24-hour timer.
Why is my Save 20 Townsfolk challenge not counting?
One player says only the residents, in blue, count, and the yellow priority targets do not. That caps it at five a game, so 20 saves takes at least four matches. One player who guided at least eight out was at 3 of 20.
What counts as a one-hit kill?
Not one swing. Players say two quick hits in a row count as the one hit at Bloodthirst 3 on a resident stalked to tier 3, with the first hit to the head. Whether to approach from behind or face to face is disputed, and one player's Reality Tear question has no answer in its thread.
Do Prestige Challenges work against NPCs and in private matches?
Mostly yes. Several players finished theirs in private matches, and the one that goes wrong is scares. Two players say jump-scares only register on real players, and one player's door-breaking against NPCs in a private match did not count.
Why does my execution not count for the challenge?
The bear hug. When there is not enough room, the game replaces the finisher or Bloodthirsty execution with a hug, which pays the points for a weapon execution but does not count toward the challenge. Attack in open space, from directly behind.
Can I skip a Prestige Challenge I do not like?
Not on demand. When the timer runs out the challenge ends and the prestige does not happen, and trying again costs perk points and can deal a different challenge. The mechanics are on the prestige page.
