How prestige works in Halloween: The Game
Four tracks, each with its own prestige. Players who have prestiged their profile got a timed challenge first, not an instant reset, and found it takes away more than it looks like it does.
The short answer
- Four tracks: Profile, Killer, Civilian and Weapon, each prestiged separately.
- Profile opens at level 100, and one player reports Killer at 50. A profile prestige starts with a 24-hour challenge.
- Unlocks are kept in the recordings so far. Profile and killer levels go back to 1.
- Watch out: a profile prestige locks level-gated challenge collections again, including Shape Mastery.
Only the four tracks and the level-cap rule are official. The rest comes from players who prestiged after Patch 1.0.2, each linked below.

The four prestige tracks
IllFonic’s progression overview names the four tracks and says each can be prestiged at its maximum level. It does not give the levels or the rewards.

What happens when you prestige
- 1
Reach the maximum level on a track. The prestige option then appears for that track.

- 2
Starting a profile prestige costs 5,000 perk points.
One source: Middi (0:12)
- 3
For a profile prestige you are given a Prestige Challenge with a 24-hour countdown, shown on the challenge panel.

- 4
The profile challenge timer runs in real time and keeps running while you are offline.

- 5
If the timer runs out, trying again costs perk points again. The in-game prompt says so before you start.

- 6
You can start a challenge again after its timer has run out.

There is no way to swap a challenge you do not like. Players wait for the 24 hours to run out instead. Whether the next attempt gives a different challenge has not been confirmed.

Complete the challenge and the track resets to level 1; to reach the next prestige, you level it back up. Shown for the profile track, described the same way for Killer, and said by one player to be no different for civilians.

What you keep, and what a profile prestige takes away
Kept
Everything you have unlocked stays unlocked: civilians, skins, tints and weapons. Shown after a profile prestige.
One source: WEEZYFMAMBA (2:41)
Progressive challenges are untouched.
One source: WEEZYFMAMBA (5:22)
Locked again
Passive challenge collections that need a profile level lock again until you climb back to that level. Progress inside them is kept, so a collection you had at 72% is still at 72% when it unlocks.
One source: WEEZYFMAMBA (4:06)
Shape Mastery, the collection players are grinding for a Michael skin, needs profile level 80. Prestiging your profile puts it out of reach until you are back at 80.
One source: WEEZYFMAMBA (4:36) · WEEZYFMAMBA (5:04)
If you are close to finishing a collection that needs a high profile level, finish it before you prestige. Outside those collections, the reset only moves the level number: your civilians, skins and weapons do not go anywhere.
How to complete Prestige Challenges
Players have reported several different profile challenges, and IllFonic says some objectives are hard to read. These are the ones players have worked out and recorded.
Profile challenges
Finishers: max out Bloodthirst to tier 3, bring a resident down to one hit, grab them and let them escape, then attack from directly behind in open space. In a cramped room you get a bear-hug execution instead, which does not count.
One source: EvansTacos (0:12) · EvansTacos (0:36) · EvansTacos (1:27)
Another player completed an axe finisher version, on 15 special targets, by getting each target to 25% health or less, reaching Bloodthirst tier 3 and Stalk level 3, then executing.

One-shot kills with the pickaxe: police officers go down in one hit far more reliably than residents. Scare residents into calling the police to bring officers to you.
One source: EvansTacos (2:33) · EvansTacos (2:55)
One profile challenge, shown in a player's screenshot, is to kill 30 terrified victims by throwing the Hatchet.
One source: u/MyJiggleBits, screenshot (Reddit)
For the hatchet challenge, the throw has to be the kill on its own, with no other damage to that victim first, and Bloodthirst has to be at level 3. Wounding a target before throwing is reported not to count.
2 sources: u/XHBK (Reddit) · u/SweetCasey (Reddit)
Expect it to be slow. The player who finished the hatchet challenge managed three or four kills a match at best, against 30 needed.

Prestige Challenges progress in private matches, and several players finished theirs there.
3 sources: EvansTacos (1:53) · u/No_Following_9921 (Reddit) · u/notandvm (Reddit)
Check your loadout before you queue. One player started a pickaxe challenge with a different weapon equipped and could not make any progress that match.
One source: Middi (0:51)
Another profile challenge asks you to destroy a noise maker with the pickaxe 20 times within one day.
One source: Middi (0:30)
The challenge does not say what counts as a noise maker. In a recording of that challenge, phones and the bar's jukebox did not count.
One source: Middi (1:26) · Middi (35:08)
Weapon challenges
Three players describe the same knife challenge, which suggests weapon challenges are fixed per weapon, unlike the profile ones.
Knife: kill 15 priority targets without them knowing you are there.
3 sources: u/EvilDragon0404 (Reddit) · u/notandvm (Reddit) · u/TheBrollectors (Reddit)
In at least one version of the knife challenge, every one of those kills has to be an execution.
2 sources: u/EvilDragon0404 (Reddit) · u/notandvm (Reddit)
For the knife challenge, closets give a reliable surprise stealth grab: break a window to bait a target past the closet. One player farmed it this way in solo private matches.
One source: u/notandvm (Reddit)
One player reports the axe challenge was breaking noise makers, and the Killer prestige challenge was grab kills.
One source: u/TheBrollectors (Reddit)
Finishers need Bloodthirst at tier 3, the same meter the story mode’s Bloodthirsty execution uses, so the Chapter 4 challenge is decent practice.
Prestige Challenges not working?
What IllFonic has said so far, from the Patch 1.0.2 notes and the update posted later the same day:
- Patch 1.0.2 re-enabled Prestige Challenges, which had been unavailable before it.
- An active Prestige Challenge was stopping players from entering matchmaking. The same patch fixed it.
- Right after that patch, Weapon Prestige Challenges briefly showed up without their objective text. IllFonic says restarting the game fixes it.
- IllFonic has acknowledged that some challenges have unclear objectives. It says they can still be completed, but that the criteria are hard to work out.
What players report since
After Patch 1.0.2, some players still report a Prestige Challenge not progressing at all, in public and private matches.
2 sources: u/Comfortable_Will5091, screenshot (Reddit) · u/Germz21 (Reddit)
One Kill Priority Target challenge stayed at 0 after roughly 50 priority kills, several game restarts, and a second attempt after the timer ran out.
One source: u/Comfortable_Will5091 (Reddit) · u/Comfortable_Will5091 (Reddit)
Before spending perk points on a second attempt, check that yours is actually counting in a single match. If a restart does not bring missing objective text back, the full notes are on the patch notes page.
Questions
- When can you prestige in Halloween: The Game?
- When a progression track hits its maximum level. Two players who prestiged show the profile track maxing at level 100, and one reports the killer track at level 50. The civilian and weapon caps have not been published.
- What do you lose when you prestige?
- The profile and killer tracks go back to level 1, one player says civilians work the same way, and weapon resets have not been described. A player who prestiged their profile shows unlocked civilians, skins, tints and weapons all staying. The catch, in the same recording, is that passive challenge collections needing a profile level lock again until you re-level, although the progress inside them is kept.
- Is there a time limit on Prestige Challenges?
- Profile Prestige Challenges are timed: the challenge panel counts down from 24 hours, and one player reports the timer keeps running while you are offline. Do not start one right before you stop playing. Timers on the other tracks have not been described.
- Why is my Prestige Challenge not working?
- Prestige Challenges were disabled until Patch 1.0.2. If yours shows no objective text, IllFonic says to restart the game. If an active challenge stops you from matchmaking, that was fixed in the same patch. Some objectives are acknowledged as unclear but completable.
- Should I prestige my profile?
- Not while you are working through a level-gated collection. One player's recording shows Shape Mastery needing profile level 80, which a profile prestige puts out of reach until you are back at 80.
