Halloween: The Game items: what each one actually does

This game does not tell you what its items do. That is not an oversight in the coverage — it is the most repeated complaint players have, and the developers have been described as deliberately vague about it. So rather than filling the silence, every item below is filed under one of three states, and only 3 of 8 are confirmed.

Confirmed3
Documented in a guide or agreed on by players who tested it.
Theorised — unproven1
Players have a hypothesis and say openly that it is unproven.
No published effect4
The item exists and is findable. Nobody has published what it does.

These have pages because people are searching for them and finding invented answers. Each page says what is known — that the item exists, roughly how rare it seems, and who reported it — and stops there.

Why this page is organised by certainty

An item wiki normally sorts by type or by rarity. Neither works here, because the thing you actually want to know — does this do anything useful — is unavailable for most of the list, and a table sorted by rarity hides that behind a confident-looking layout.

The three states are encoded in the data rather than hedged in the prose, which means a page cannot quietly drift from “theorised” to stated fact during an edit. When someone publishes a tested effect for the Fragile Hourglass, the change is one field and the page rewrites itself around it.

If you have tested one of these against a repeatable case — a known cooldown, a measured window — that is the missing piece, and it is worth posting in the game’s subreddit where the rest of this knowledge has been assembled.

Frequently asked

What does the Ancient Amulet do in Halloween: The Game?
It passively negates the first attack Michael lands on you and blinds him for roughly three seconds, and it works from your hotbar without being activated. Like other items it can also be thrown for a stun. It is the only rare item whose effect is settled.
Why does the game not explain its items?
That is the game's own design choice, not a gap in coverage. A guide writer covering the Ancient Amulet put it directly: the developers have been deliberately vague about item effects. Players list the brass lantern, the hourglass, the ice pick, the fuse and the road flare as things they pick up without ever learning what they are for.
What does the Fragile Hourglass do?
Nobody has confirmed it. The community hypothesis is that it affects Michael's ability cooldowns, and the players offering that hypothesis say openly that it is unproven. It is listed here as theorised rather than written up as fact.
Are there item rarities?
Players describe finding items at purple rarity, so a rarity tier system appears to exist. No official source documents the tiers or what they change, so this site does not present a rarity table.
Can you really smoke and drink in this game?
Yes, and it is confirmed by an unusual source: the mature-content descriptor the developers submitted to Steam states that players can consume beer and smoke marijuana from their inventory. That same descriptor is the likely reason the game cannot be bought on Steam in Australia.
