Chapter 5, Challenge 6: destroy any police car before you escape
The challenge as the game words it, read off the screen by JA Guides Gaming: Chapter 5, challenge 6. So, destroy any police car before you escape.
It is the last of Chapter 5’s six challenges and the one most often reported as broken — almost always for a reason that is not a bug.
Six runs, one late tick
This is not one creator’s theory. Every walkthrough of this challenge that was read for this page ends the same way — including two that spend minutes on camera assuming the game is broken.
- JA Guides Gaming escapes first, then reads the challenge back as complete.
- SIMPLYAMAZING says outright that it does not show completed until you escape.
- JROID smashes two separate cars, sees nothing, finishes the level and gets it.
- Bryce Games warns the achievement does not show immediately.
- DEERE completes the level and has it.
- Jacob Fox spends a run convinced it is broken, then gets it at the exit.
The one channel that calls the car done mid-level never shows a pop-up at that moment either — he narrates it, then leaves the map like everyone else.
Finding a car to wreck
There is no marked spawn, and no two walkthroughs use the same car. What they agree on is that the suburb has several and that you do not have to hunt for a specific one.
Parked
Cars sit around the streets. The only landmark anyone names is one by the basketball court, in front of a house.
Driving
Some are in motion — one run walks up to a moving car, starts hitting it, and the officers pile out.
Summoned
Getting spotted brings the police, and with them a car. A wasted stealth run can be turned into this challenge.
One run finds no car at all before the exit. If that happens, it is the map and not you — the challenge carries over to the next attempt at the chapter.
What actually breaks a car
Hit it until the hood pops up. One channel stops there; another keeps swinging until it smokes and treats that as the real destroyed state. Nobody counts hits, and no source describes a sound cue.
| Claim | How well supported | Detail |
|---|---|---|
| Bare hands are enough | shown on cameraBryce Games, DEERE | Two channels wreck a car with nothing equipped — one calls it punching the car, the other a plain melee attack. |
| A thrown weapon works too | one channelBryce Games | Said in passing while looking for a car, not demonstrated as the thing that completed it. |
| It has to be the knife | player theoryDaRicanKid, Jacob Fox | Both blame a failed run on the weapon, and Jacob Fox calls it a prediction rather than a finding. The two channels above break cars without it, so treat this as superstition that costs you nothing to follow. |
| Some cars cannot be attacked at all | one channelJacob Fox | If a car gives you no prompt and takes no damage, walk away and find another rather than emptying a run into it. |
When it really does not count
Two failures survive the “wait for the exit” explanation, and they pull in opposite directions.
A finished run that still does not award it
Two channels hit this and both answer it the same way: wreck every car you pass, so a single car that did not register is not the whole run. A third player reports the reverse — two cars destroyed and no award, then one car and it worked. Nobody has found the rule behind that, so treat extra cars as cheap insurance rather than a requirement.
Completions that do not survive the level
One run ends with the chapter reloading instead of completing, and the challenges that had been ticked were not saved. That is the same story-mode tracking problem the challenge hub tracks — and the reason the challenge tracker on this site keeps your own record in the browser.
Loomis is the real cost
Smashing a car is loud. Police react, and three separate runs describe Loomis being pulled in by the noise — one of them ends in an outright chase. If Challenge 5, escaping without Loomis detecting you, is still open, do not try to bank both in one attempt. Wreck cars in a loud run, then go back in for a quiet one.

Ninety seconds, and the last thirty are the part that matters: the car is already destroyed, the challenge is still unticked, and it completes on the escape.
For the same thing happening to somebody who does not expect it, JROID’s Chapter 5 run destroys a second car looking for a pop-up that was never going to come.
Questions people arrive with
Chapter 5 Challenge 6 is not working — is it bugged?
Usually not. The challenge does not tick when the car is destroyed; it ticks when the level ends. Six separate walkthroughs show the same sequence: car wrecked, no pop-up, escape, challenge complete. Keep playing to the exit before deciding it failed.
How many police cars do you have to destroy?
One, as far as the challenge text goes. Because runs sometimes end without the tick, two channels advise wrecking every car you pass as insurance. One player reports the opposite — a two-car run that failed and a one-car run that worked — so more cars is a hedge, not a rule.
Where is the police car in Chapter 5?
There is no fixed spot. Several sit around the suburb, some are driving, and one player makes them appear by being spotted, which sends the police out. The one named landmark anybody gives is a car by the basketball court.
Does the knife matter?
No channel demonstrates that it does. Two break a car with bare hands. Two others suspect the knife matters after a failed run, and one of them calls that a guess.
Can you do this in the same run as escaping undetected by Loomis?
You can try, but wrecking a car makes noise, the police react, and three channels describe Loomis arriving because of it. The cheaper plan is a car-smashing run and a separate quiet run for the Loomis challenge.
