Bob Simms
Unlocked at player level 40 — the second-longest grind on the roster.
Read on the numbers: The highest capability on the roster with eight athleticism, paid for with three resourcefulness.

About
Bob Simms unlocks at player level 40, second only to Annie Brackett on the progression ladder. His card reads nine capability, the highest on the roster, with eight athleticism, four personality and three resourcefulness, and his traits are Heavyweight, Lethal Pitch and Runner's High. Heavyweight lets him drink without most of the drunk penalties, which fits the character.
He is one of the four characters carried over from the 1978 film rather than created for the game. He and Lynda van der Klok are the beer-drinking lovebirds of the group; Annie Brackett and Laurie Strode are the babysitters.
In the story mode he is the pivot of Chapter 4. One challenge asks you to pin him to the kitchen wall, and dealing with him is the trigger for the rest of the chapter: the Sheet only appears in the bedroom afterwards, and the Sheet is what the Lynda challenge requires. A player attempting Chapter 4's challenges out of order usually discovers this by finding the bedroom empty.
Bob was the easiest civilian to one-shot Michael with, and Patch 1.0.3 went after exactly that. Capability now adds less melee damage at high values, Heavyweight grants less melee damage and less Fear Resistance, the drunk melee boost is smaller, and Michael resists more damage at every Bloodthirst level. Nine capability still makes Bob the hardest hitter on the roster, but a drunk Bob with a heavy weapon now takes a few swings to finish the job.
Level 40 puts him well past the point where most players will have settled on a main. If you are choosing what to chase, the ladder is heavily back-loaded: three of the five gated civilians sit at 25 or above.
A legacy character
Bob Simms is one of four characters carried over from John Carpenter’s 1978 film rather than created for the game, along with Annie Brackett, Lynda van der Klok and Laurie Strode. The designs were developed in close collaboration with Malek Akkad and Compass International Pictures.
All four appear on both sides of the game: as scripted presences in Michael’s story mode, staged around scenes from the original film, and as fully playable civilians in multiplayer. Most licensed horror games use their legacy cast one way or the other, not both.
Chapter 4: the kitchen wall challenge, and dealing with him is what makes the Sheet appear in the bedroom.
Story mode is played entirely as Michael, so this is where most players meet Bob Simms before they can play as Bob. Every named-target execution in the story sits behind a Tier 3 Stalk on that specific target. The object and the position are the easy half.
Every civilian carries three signature traits, shown on the character-select screen next to their stats. They are separate from the perk deck, which is built from cards unlocked in the graveyard and is not tied to the character.
| Trait | What it does |
|---|---|
| Heavyweight | Drinking does not give him the full drunk effects: no movement instability or noise and less visual impairment, while keeping the benefits of less fear and a melee boost.Patch 1.0.3 reduced both the Fear Resistance and the melee damage it grants. |
| Lethal Pitch | Thrown items and weapons deal 10% more damage. |
| Runner's High | The movement penalty from exhaustion is 5% smaller. |
Bob Simms’s four values add up to 24 out of 40. Treat that as a rough shape, not a power ranking: a maxed column is worth more than a spread if the thing it feeds is what your group keeps losing to. The Loadout Lab sorts every civilian by any single column.
Several of Bob's goals ask you to knock Michael off his feet or land the final blow, and nobody hits harder. See all of Bob's Progressive Challenges and their goals.
