About
Lynda van der Klok unlocks at player level 25, past the halfway point of a ladder that runs 5, 10, 25, 40 and 55. Her card reads four capability, eight athleticism, seven personality and five resourcefulness, with Totally Amazing, Blinding Light and Fade to Black as her traits.
She is one of the four legacy characters, figures from John Carpenter's 1978 film reimagined for the game rather than invented for it, alongside Bob Simms, Annie Brackett and Laurie Strode.
Her role in the single-player mode is the most scripted of any civilian's. Chapter 4 recreates the Wallace House sequence, and two of its six challenges are hers: the Tier 3 Stalk she shares with Bob while the pair are occupied in the living room, and the telephone kill, which cannot be done until you have dealt with Bob. Dealing with him is what makes the Sheet appear in the bedroom, and the Sheet has to be worn first.
Playing as her in multiplayer is therefore the inversion of how most players will first encounter her. That is the point of the legacy roster: the same characters appear on both sides of the 1v4.
A legacy character
Lynda van der Klok is one of four characters carried over from John Carpenter’s 1978 film rather than created for the game, along with Bob Simms, Annie Brackett and Laurie Strode. The designs were developed in close collaboration with Malek Akkad and Compass International Pictures.
All four appear on both sides of the game: as scripted presences in Michael’s story mode, staged around scenes from the original film, and as fully playable civilians in multiplayer. Most licensed horror games use their legacy cast one way or the other, not both.
Chapter 4: the telephone challenge, which requires wearing the Sheet first, and the Tier 3 Stalk challenge she shares with Bob.
Story mode is played entirely as Michael, so this is where most players meet Lynda van der Klok before they can play as Lynda. Every named-target execution in the story sits behind a Tier 3 Stalk on that specific target. The object and the position are the easy half.
Every civilian carries three signature traits, shown on the character-select screen next to their stats. They are separate from the perk deck, which is built from cards unlocked in the graveyard and is not tied to the character.
| Trait | What it does |
|---|---|
| Totally Amazing | Power-up rewards last 10% longer and are 10% stronger. |
| Blinding Light | When you blind Michael, he stays blinded 50% longer. |
| Fade to Black | While you are in a hiding spot, Stalk tiers degrade 10% faster. |
Lynda van der Klok’s four values add up to 24 out of 40. Treat that as a rough shape, not a power ranking: a maxed column is worth more than a spread if the thing it feeds is what your group keeps losing to. The Loadout Lab sorts every civilian by any single column.
Lynda's challenges are mostly support work: healing other civilians, calming residents and escorting them out. See all of Lynda's Progressive Challenges and their goals.
