Richard Hawthorne
One of two Digital Deluxe civilians; the highest athleticism outside Alexis.
Read on the numbers: High athleticism and personality, low resourcefulness — mobility over objectives.
About
Richard Hawthorne is one of the two civilians included with the Digital Deluxe Edition rather than the standard one. Seven athleticism and nine personality make him the mobile, socially-weighted half of the Deluxe pair, with five resourcefulness as the trade.
He is written as Haddonfield's newly arrived party host — a recent transplant from California whose father's money bought the family into town. That places him socially opposite Marcus Navarro, who lives on the fringe, and adjacent to Alexis, who works for Mr. Strode.
His trait list is the one place where the character-select transcription is genuinely unreliable: the narrator audibly lost the thread mid-sentence and listed four names rather than three. Affluent and Illusory are clear; the middle two are not. Every other civilian on this site shows exactly three traits, so treat one of the four below as an artefact until you can read his card yourself.
Every civilian carries three signature traits, shown on the character-select screen next to their stats. They are separate from the perk deck, which is built from cards unlocked in the graveyard and is not tied to the character.
| Trait | What is known |
|---|---|
| Affluent | Listed clearly among Richard's traits. |
| Party Heartname unclear | The narrator stumbled on this name mid-sentence and said so. |
| Witness Statename unclear | Listed among Richard's traits in the same breath as the uncertain name. |
| Illusory | Listed clearly among Richard's traits. |
Flagged names come from footage where the narrator audibly hesitated over the wording. They are listed because leaving them out would be worse than listing them with the caveat — but check your own character card before relying on one.
Across the 7 civilians whose stats are visible, Richard Hawthorne’s four values total 27. Totals are not a power ranking — the game gives no indication that the four stats are weighted equally, and a maxed column is worth more than a spread if the thing it feeds is what your group is losing to. The Loadout Lab sorts every civilian by any single column so you can check that yourself.
